The Adventures of Don and the White Animals Review

When I first checked this book out, I was surprised by the length. Children’s books aren't usually really long, but this is a great one. It features a great mix of narratives and compelling children’s messages through a variety of characters. This is a good, nuanced little book. I love the message,Meir Eshel presents a very good children’s book about friendship. It’s one of the better examples of children’s literature out right now. I love that it’s not too polished, it lends a certain intangible quality to it. Kids will love it, grownups will enjoy it, and it’s well worth the asking price. The only thing I didn't really like was the few pictures it did have was in black in white. I know when I was a young girl I always loved colorful vibrant pictures. This is suppose to be a kids book not a teen or adult book. Other than that very cute story just needed more pictures and have color to them.Share it with someone you love.

Book Description

 June 2, 2014
The main character of the book is a six year old boy named Don White. Don is gifted with a mysterious power: from birth, he has the ability to communicate with animals of all kinds, especially with the white animals which have a birthmark on their right limbs – same as the one Don has on the palm of his right hand.

When Don realizes his powers, he nominates himself as the "Ambassador of all animals" and fights for their rights in a naive yet glorious way, as only a child can do.

The animals not only gather around Don but also come to his rescue in times of troubled and attack his attackers in spectacular, curious, amusing and nonviolent ways.

The storyteller is Don's father, Jack White, who is compelled to confront an invasion of massive animals and a super-natural, mature and independent child.

Don manages to drag his family into extraordinary adventures - he is kidnapped by a big white monkey from the circus, wins a horse race riding a white horse, and escapes being kidnapped by a group of malicious people. Don is saved, of course, but the book ends with the kidnappers still on the loose, waiting to meet him in the next book…

The Adventures of Don and the White Animals is a book for children between the ages of 8-12 and is the first part in a series on going adventures.

From the Press:

"Beyond the critical discussion above, it should be emphasized that "The Adventures of Don and the White Animals" is first of all an eloquent and adventurous story. It's a thrilling and surprising book, which attributes a lot of weight also to issues such as relations in the family and pets of the house. The didactic dimension of the book is concealed in between the overflow of events,".
- Ariel Tsovel, Anonymous Israel.

"The book is not only an adventurous book but also has an educational value. Throughout the plot, the young reader is being exposed to many courageous values. The attempt made by Meir Eshel, is an honest one to restore lost values which seem to have disappeared from our modern world. While reading the book, the reader learns the values of museum and music. The child learns to distinguish the different forces operating in society: the force of law, representatives of the government, wars between the good ones and the bad ones,".
- Shoshana Weig, E-mago.

"If you like, it is a story about courage, ingenuity, determination, and persistence – a human story about a super-human. A tale for children which stimulates independent thinking, arouses emotions, and delivers an ideological messages.
If you like, it's an amusing, thrilling book, with a happy end.
If you like, it's a teaching and enriching book, dealing with geological, biological, zoological and sociological themes.
If you like, this book is imaginary, colorful, and garish. It is rich with pictures and illustrations."
- Tal Rabinowitz, BSH.

From the Author

We don't have enough animal-lover's ambassadors!!!
Don loves animals. He creates a special bond with them, talks to them and helps them when they suffer. Usually the suffering is caused by humans. In return, the animals in the book help Don achieve getting his missions every time he gets into trouble.
Animals are inextricably intertwined in our world. Many families are engaged with animals such as pets, but unfortunately many neglect to take the right care of them. We are also talking about neglected dogs or cats, the meat industry, entertainment industries, such as horse racing and animal circuses as well as zoos.
There are many things we as humans can do to change our attitudes towards animals.
The most important one of them is to make better laws against cruelty acts to animals; however, powerful and rich people disturb the authorities making these laws. Sometimes animal-lovers win this war yet not enough.
This fantasy adventure series is my way to bring up a new generation of animal-lover's ambassadors.
Follow me, share it with your friends and help to create the new generation of Animal ambassadors.

Biography

Meir Eshel, an accountant by trade, who dealt with reports and balance sheets until the age of 53, found the way to reshape his world through characters from a utopian world.

The book is not only an adventures book, but has an educational value. Throughout the plot, the young reader is being exposed to many values. The attempt made by Meir Eshel, is an honest one to restore lost values, that seems have passed from our modern world. While reading the book, the reader learns the values of museum and music. The child learns to distinguish the different forces operating in society: the force of law, the representatives of the government, wars between the good ones and the bad ones.

"I had the desire to wrap up in the book everything a parent can ask when he buys a book for his children, and on the other hand, to provide maximum stimulations for the young reader, because, unfortunately, reading in this age is not taken for granted."
